I started by telling you about the beach, then I shared with you my favourite place in Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter (El Gòtic), and so I had to conclude by showing you pictures of the whole city.
I have really given it thoughts, and I truly believe it is a city where I could live. At least for a while. I could picture myself working then enjoying a walk on the beach at sunset. So, who knows, maybe that’s my next stop!
This is a thing I truly enjoy about traveling! Each city gives you a different vibe. In some, I could picture myself living, like Barcelona, in some I could never see myself living, like Paris, but I’d never say no to a getaway there either. While some cities just stay with you forever, like my hometown, Cluj, and I would always go back to it again and again, only to discover that both me and the city have changed, but there will always be a bond to tie us together.
Back to Barcelona, another thing that I love about it is that I can speak Spanish, and I love that! I can just walk up to someone and start talking! Something that clearly, I have been unable to do in Belgium! Yes, everyone speaks English eventually, but you just don’t feel like you blend in. When the native language is not one that I can speak I feel that I am forever a tourist, no matter for how long I am living in that place. And that kind of stays between me and that city and avoids creating that bond that I was talking about. A bond which I happily created with Barcelona.
With that being said, it’s a city worth visiting, and even if I have seen more of Spain than just Barcelona, this one stayed with me! So let me know what you think of it, and if you have ever been or want to visit and I’ll tell you where the best tapas place is!
