Hallo! Hoe gaat het? //Hi! How are you?
I still have loads of pictures from Paris to share with you, but I thought I’d take a break from that and tell you all about this pretty Belgian city that I discovered on Saturday! Hence comes my Dutch/Flemish speaking attempt, as I feel like I should know a few words before I leave Belgium, so I am working on it!
Especially since it will all sum up in a few good months spent here, so it would be rude of me not to learn anything, even more, while being a language lover. While using the same principle, I decided that I should see some of Belgium too, even if travelling across Europe is exciting, as Belgium is a beautiful country and it would be a pity not to take advantage of these months I am spending here.
So I started with Brugge, one of the most recommended cities from Belgium! And yes, I loved it! It is the ultimate explanation of why Belgium is famous for chocolate. I don’t think they ever run out over there.
The streets are literally like this: chocolate shop, then a chocolate shop, then a chocolate shop and then, guess what? Another chocolate shop! It’s literally like the city was built on these shops!
However, apart from that, the city really is amazing! We visited a history museum and it was the most interesting way of hearing a history story I experienced so far! They turned it all into a love story, and being the girl that I am, obviously, it brought a smile on my face and it will probably make me remember more than any other boring (no offence!) museums.
After the museum, some wandering around was mandatory and it took us straight to a boat trip, which we really enjoyed as the city is indeed called “The Venice of the North” for something – it appears to have been a famous port of Europe and so it’s filled with canales and little cute bridges.
Apart from all that, we visited the Basilica, had some good Italian food (sorry Belgium) and then we headed back home. To be honest, it was one of the best days I had in Belgium! The company was the main reason – the girls I went with kept me laughing the whole day and as a result we ended up enjoying the day to its fullest! It’s amazing how soon you can make great friends, but I don’t complain, I love it!
Did I miss anything? Oh – I was dressed really casually and spent the day happy like a kid, but more about that in a couple of days, in my next future post!
Have an amazing week, loves! Smile and be positive, makes it easier for the good vibes to find you!
Lots of love, D.
