Happy International Women’s Day!
I didn’t want for this day to pass without a little celebration here, on Destray, as well.
I know I’ve been caught up in all my other projects and haven’t blogged for a bit, but hey, I am here today and I am very excited to celebrate every single woman for her amazing contribution to this world.
I am lucky enough to have a tremendous amount of women that inspire me in my life, some whom I see daily, some whom are always in my heart, some whom I cross paths with and some whom I simply look up to from far away.
I wanted to publish this post along with this photoshoot because I truly believe in Queen B’s lyrics (still love her, yes!) that “Diva is a female version of a hustler”. Or at least this is how I now perceive it. I used to be put down by the fact that people called me a diva, or bossy, or a workaholic, all these words seemed to be used to give me such a bad name, to make me feel bad for what I do, for who I am. But I have learned to listen to myself before I’ve listened to others, and now I just embrace who I am. Yes, I work a lot, yes, I aspire to be fully independent and yes, I am a hustler.
And this is why I chose this shoot in particular. I didn’t want to post a pretty dress, heels and flowers, only because that’s how a post that celebrates women “should” look like. I wanted to post pictures of myself fighting the wind, in my motivational t-shirt and my trainers, as you’ll find me all day everyday. Because there is no way I’ll enjoy putting my heels on and be pretty in a dress, if I didn’t hustle my heart out to achieve my goals.
So for all the women out there that hustle every day – I see you, I bow down to you and I hope to get to meet you! Empower eachother, work on your goals, be nice, do whatever makes you happy, but do it with good will, and be the kind of person the little you would look up to!
This day is yours so celebrate yourself, celebrate your mother, celebrate the most important women in your life and please, enjoy yourself, the true you by doing something that you really want to do!
With that being said, I am now running to a debate called “Women in PR” that I organised through Bright Futures and I am looking forward to being inspired by all the amazing ladies attending.
Much, much love, D.
