Holding On

I have tried to hold on to Barcelona for as long as I could… Even so, it was not long enough, and I still think of that Palm Trees lifestyle and with summer coming up, all I can think about is that I want to escape to a place like that and stay there for the whole summer! Even if Belgium gives me chocolate, it also gives me so much to learn. And, you know I love learning, but as a student, you know that time comes when it’s sunny outside and you have to stay in and study for exams. Yes, it’s not the ideal situation. So, I must say, even if it’s not that sunny, I miss England and its practical system, where not everything is about exams and theory. But, no more complaining! I will just take it as it is and enjoy my last few weeks here, on Erasmus. I cannot talk about leaving yet, because it seems unreal, so I’d rather go on and on about these exams and everything that I need to study. Truth is, even with all its bad sides, I don’t want it to end. So, as I am still holding on to Barcelona, I am also holding on to this beautiful experience and I hope to make the most of what’s left, because I will for sure miss it. No time to turn sentimental, because these exams still need me to be focused! So I’d better get back to studying, even if my mind is thinking about everything but that. Like where to travel next, or what happens after Erasmus...

Barcelona Love

I started by telling you about the beach, then I shared with you my favourite place in Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter (El Gòtic), and so I had to conclude by showing you pictures of the whole city. I have really given it thoughts, and I truly believe it is a city where I could live. At least for a while. I could picture myself working then enjoying a walk on the beach at sunset. So, who knows, maybe that’s my next stop! This is a thing I truly enjoy about traveling! Each city gives you a different vibe. In some, I could picture myself living, like Barcelona, in some I could never see myself living, like Paris, but I’d never say no to a getaway there either. While some cities just stay with you forever, like my hometown, Cluj, and I would always go back to it again and again, only to discover that both me and the city have changed, but there will always be a bond to tie us together. Back to Barcelona, another thing that I love about it is that I can speak Spanish, and I love that! I can just walk up to someone and start talking! Something that clearly, I have been unable to do in Belgium! Yes, everyone speaks English eventually, but you just don’t feel like you blend in. When the native language is not one that I can speak I feel that I am forever a tourist, no matter for how long I am living in that place. And that kind of stays between me and that city and avoids creating...

And I'm off to…

…BARCELONA!!!   As you’re reading this, I am waiting to get on my flight to one of my favourite cities visited so far! I am literally so excited, that I cannot stop smiling!! Apart from returning to the beauty of Barcelona, I will also have a reunion with my friends which is even more exciting! This is why I have tried my best to do all this unconceivable amount of work as I don’t want to leave worried that I left things undone or to keep my mind on it. I will take these few days as they are: a vacation! With good friends, sun and new memories! Of course, intensive sessions of catching up are overdue!   Living in the light of the sun was also a good motivation, as the weather here reminded me of England and then it showed me that it can be worse than that and that you should never pretend that you know how the weather is going to be like! Like, seriously, don’t even try… I have waited so long for this: no more thights, no more boots, just skirts, dresses and sandals, ahhh. This is what also made me find this lovey Gap skirt that I have had for a while and not wore it, time to change that! So, that was my exciting news!! Also, the sad part is that while I’m there I won’t be posting on the blog, but I promise to keep you updated!! Just keep following me on Facebook and Instagram and I will make sure to share the sun with you!! Besitos, D.    ...
